September 5, Steering Committee Notes
At our September 5, 2012 meeting, the Chair announced a couple of changes to our Steering Cte organization. This included the addition of Bob Hamilton as VC for Events, with John McMahon retaining the Parade VC function. In addition, a new member, Emil Cipolla, will be Bob's Co-VC for events. We now need a secretary to keep track of our decisions, so please identify anyone you think would be willing and able
to take on that task.
the Chair also requested that all Vice Chairs recruit someone to act as Vice Chair deputy and identify these individuals at our next meeting - the general meeting on 20 September 2012.
In addition to these organizational changes, as we discussed last night, the Chair requested that each VC prepare a list of specific jobs and tasks that need to accomplished in their areas and provide me with a bullet list before that meeting so that they can be included in the meeting graphics. We want to recruit volunteers to take on or assist you with these tasks at or before this public meeting. Volunteers to work on specific events will be especially important.
We agreed on several things last night, including the winning slogan - G. Gump's "Proud Heritage - Bright Future" - and a logo. I hope to clarify the exact legal status of that logo (TM, etc.) with Tom Roskelly before we can start using it. We also agreed to adopt the Fund level categories for donors created by Jane and Mollie and to start our Fundraising campaign as discussed by Jane, to include some initial T-shirts supported by advertising.
We also identified the critical need to work on a central, common Events calendar as we establish specific events. We discussed and agreed that we would try to identify 2-3 weekends over the year that we could have multiple events on and then fill in with smaller, individuals events. We need to have these key weekends by our next meeting on the 20th. When John McDaid gets back, perhaps we can arrange for a tutorial on how we can best utilize the Google calendar.
The Cahir will be away for a week (back 14 September) but Vice Chair (Gary Gump) will be here during my absence.
I may be able to get email periodically at my esmond.smith@gmail.com address.
Highly recommend send all e-mails on interst to the entire Steering Committee at sc@portsmouthRI375.com
